Griffins Trade Trevor Yates to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday traded center Trevor Yates to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in exchange for future considerations.
Yates, 23, has skated in two games with the Griffins during his first full professional season and totaled four penalty minutes. In 27 appearances with the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound center shows seven points (2-5—7) and eight PIM.
A four-year player at Cornell University from 2014-18, Yates made his pro debut with the Griffins at the end of 2017-18, playing in two contests and logging his first pro point on an assist.
The Central Division-leading Griffins continue their season-high seven-game homestand on Saturday at 7 p.m. against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
