Aisles

For safety and as a courtesy to other guests, aisles must be kept clear at all times. Please follow the directions of the usher in your section to remain in your assigned ticketed seat and refrain from standing in the aisles.

B

Bag Policy

The Van Andel Arena has adopted a NO BAGS policy. The No-bag policy reduces contact between guests and security staff by eliminating the need to search for these items. This is part of ongoing efforts to promote a contact-free experience.

Note medical bags, diaper bags, and small clutches no larger than 4.5" x 6.5" will be permitted, as will bags used for carrying skates into the arena during games featuring a post-game skate. Bags in the medical/essential category will be screened in a secondary screening area. This policy is subject to change.

Box Office

The Griffins Box Office opens 1 hour and 30 minutes prior to puck drop and is open through the first period. For a 7PM game time, it will be open from 5:30PM through 7:40PM.

Cameras/Video Equipment

Guests are welcome to bring cameras into Van Andel Arena for Griffins games for personal/non-commercial use, providing they conform to the following regulations. Still, cameras must not have a lens that extends over 80 mm or a detachable lens over 80 mm. Pocket-sized video recording devices, such as cell phones, digital cameras, and flip cams, are permitted. Anyone wishing to use a still camera with a lens more significant than 80 mm or to record video with a camcorder or larger video camera must request and be approved for a credential by the Griffins public relations department. Guests must not stand in the aisles or obstruct the view of others while taking pictures or video, and tripods, monopods, and other camera support pods are not permitted. Flash photography and the use of lights on video recording devices are prohibited. The Griffins reserve the right to remove guests not cooperating with this policy.

Cashless Purchases

Cashless transactions are required for all box office, merchandise, and concession purchases.

Code of Conduct

Van Andel Arena is committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable entertainment experience. Guests have a right to expect an environment where:

Guests will be treated in consistent, professional and courteous manner by all venue personnel.

Guests will enjoy every event free from disruptive behavior, including foul or abusive language or obscene gestures.

Guests will consume alcoholic beverages in a responsible manner. Intervention with an impaired, intoxicated or underage guest will be handled in a prompt and safe manner.

Guests will sit only in their ticketed seats and show their tickets when requested.

Guests who engage in fighting, throwing objects or attempting to enter the court/ice/stage will be immediately ejected from the venue.

Guests will not smoke or vape in the venue.

There will not be any obscene or indecent messages on signs or clothing.

Guests will comply with requests from venue staff regarding facility operations and emergency response procedures.

Guests will also be responsible for their own good time by reporting inappropriate behavior.

Van Andel Arena staff have been trained to intervene when deemed necessary and to use their best discretion to help ensure that guests who ignore the Code of Conduct do not interfere with other guests' ability to enjoy an event. Guests who violate the Code of Conduct may be subject to ejection without refund and, to the extent their conduct constitutes a violation of law, may be subject to arrest. Season ticket holders may also be subject to having their season subscription revoked. We thank you for your cooperation.

DASH Auctions

Jerseys, sticks, pucks and more auctioned off online powered by DASH. Griffins auctions are typically held on game days at this link here. Any Dash auction questions can be answered at Ticket Central on the concourse.

Donations

To request a donation, please mail or fax a letter of request to the Griffins with "Attn: Donation Request" on the letterhead of the organization holding the fundraiser. Please include in the letter all pertinent details regarding the event (date/time, what the event will benefit, tax ID number if applicable, etc.). Please note that the Griffins receive many requests for donations, so not all requests can be fulfilled.

Elevators

Fans are welcome to use elevators located behind section 102 or section 110.

Emergencies

Van Andel Arena works on a continuing basis with the Grand Rapids Fire Department, the Grand Rapids Police Department, and other agencies in the development of specific Emergency Procedures Plans. Van Andel Arena recognizes that its goal is to provide a safe, enjoyable atmosphere. The use of installed automated security systems, appropriate security operating plans, and trained guest services and security personnel will ensure the security and safety of all guests, performers, and employees at Van Andel Arena.

In the case of an emergency, guests must comply with requests from venue staff regarding operations and emergency response procedures.

Entry & Exits

The main entrance into Van Andel Arena is located on the North end of the building on West Fulton Street. The Suite / ADA Entrance is located at the Southwest corner of the building on Ottawa Avenue. Other entrances may be available depending on the event.

Additional points of entry will be available to direct and disperse crowds for ingress and egress of all events. Queue lines and areas leading up to the points of entry will be marked and monitored for ease of entry.

There is a no re-entry policy for events at Van Andel Arena.

First Aid

Trained emergency medical technicians (EMTs) are available to assist any guest in need at every Van Andel Arena event. In the event of a medical emergency, contact a member of our Guest Services or Security staff for assistance.

First Game Station

Stop by our First Game Station to receive your official first game certificate! We also have a photo opportunity with a statue of Griff for you to take a photo with to commemorate the occasion. Our First Game station is located on the concourse behind section 122.

Flex Packs

Flex packs are groups of undated tickets that can be used throughout the duration of the regular season. All Flex Pack purchases include a free gift. For more information, visit Ticket Central on gamedays located at the top of the main staircase on the concourse or our ticket page linked here.

Free Ride Fridays

Every Friday home game is Free Ride Friday! Ride the Rapid to and from the game and enjoy a complimentary fare by showing your ticket. Use the Ride Guide to find a Rapid bus stop near you.

Unfortunately, we cannot hold giveaway items for anyone unless you are a Full Season ticket holder. Griffin

What is a Griffin? A creature from Greek mythology that possesses the head and wings of an eagle and the body of a lion. The Griffins' nickname was adopted on November 20, 1995.

Groups

A Griffins group outing is for ten or more people looking to experience an exciting and memorable Griffins game together. Griffins groups include families, friends, businesses, community organizations, employee groups, holiday parties, alum associations, sports teams, and youth groups. Guest Services

Our Guest Services booth is located on the main concourse outside Section 104 and is designed to provide information to guests with questions, concerns, or issues during Van Andel Arena events.

In addition, Guest Services will provide assistance to guests with ADA requests. Should you have a question, comment or concern before or after an event, please contact our Guest Services booth or any staff member.

High Five Alley

An experience for guests to go behind-the-scenes and cheer on the team one-on-one before the game starts. This experience is by reservation only, for members and groups.

Hometown Hero

A moment of recognition for an active or retired member of the U.S. Military or member of local police and fire department. Honored at select Griffins game. Nominate a Hometown Hero at this link here.

Lost and Found

Van Andel Arena management assumes no responsibility for items lost at events. All lost and found items are taken to the Van Andel Arena Security Office. Guests should ask Guest Services staff during the event to inquire about lost items. After the conclusion of the event, if the lost item is not retrieved, guests may contact Van Andel Arena Security at (616) 742-6170 to inquire about the lost item.

Mascots

The Griffins uniquely have TWO, well-known and beloved mascots: Griff and Finn. Griff is the original protector of the team, while Finn is his cooler younger brother, known for his backward cap and baggy jeans. These brothers love to interact with fans and hype the crowd during games!

Interested in a visit from Griff or Finn during the game? Please call (616) 774-4585 ext. 3024 with your seat location to arrange the visit at least two weeks before the game. A $25 donation to the Griffins Youth Foundation is required. Please note you must already have tickets to the game to arrange a visit.

The Zone is the official team store of the Grand Rapids Griffins. Souvenirs including hats, shirts, cups, pucks, keychains and more! National Anthem

To sing the national anthem(s) at a Griffins game, you must send a recording of yourself performing to:

Nursing Station

A nursing mothers' room can be provided upon request. Proceed to Guest Services or the ASM Global office in the main lobby of the arena for assistance.

Outside Food & Beverage

Outside food & beverages will not be permitted inside the arena.

All alcoholic beverages must be purchased inside Van Andel Arena.

Guests are required to act in compliance with all state and local laws governing the purchase, possession, and consumption of alcohol. All guests will be asked to show a valid government-issued photo identification prior to being served alcoholic beverages.

Patrons ages 21+ with a vertical valid government issued photo ID must have their ID validated at Guest Services on the concourse level outside Section 104 before visiting concessions or portables to purchase alcoholic beverages.

A guest may have in their possession a maximum limit of two alcoholic beverages at any given time. At their discretion, Van Andel Arena reserves the right to eject or refuse service to anyone that is visibly intoxicated. Service of alcohol will stop at predetermined times based on the event and at the discretion of Van Andel Arena management.

Drinking fountains can be found throughout the venue. Refillable water bottles are not permitted into the building.

Post Game Skate

Skates can be brought into the arena and checked in at any entrance. Bags carrying skates will be allowed but checked per bag policy. Fill out & print our waiver ahead of your postgame skate at this link here.

Prohibited Items

The following is a partial list of items that are prohibited at all Van Andel Arena events.
Outside Food and Beverage
Bags (Small clutches no larger than 4.5" x 6.5" x 2" and bags for medical & parenting needs will be permitted)
Cameras: flash/professional photography; some events will prohibit the use of all cameras
Selfie Sticks, Tripods/Monopods
Recording Devices
Laser Pointers, Alcohol, Illegal Drugs, Noise Making Devices, Fireworks, Flashlights, Skateboards, Rollerblades, Beach Balls, Cans or Bottles
Any item that could pose a safety hazard or restrict the enjoyment of another guest
In the event that prohibited items are revealed during a search, the guest will be permitted to return the item to their vehicle, or the item will be confiscated or disposed of properly. Van Andel Arena will not check-in or safeguard any personal belongings or items of any type.

Re-Entry Policy

There is a no re-entry policy for events at Van Andel Arena.

Restrooms

Restrooms are located on every level of the arena. All restrooms within the facility are being disinfected from top to bottom including walls, floors, toilets, sinks, partitions, counters and all other surfaces within the restrooms.

All restroom facilities at Van Andel Arena are wheelchair accessible and are clearly marked. In addition, unisex / family restrooms are available on the terrace level behind Section 114 and 116 and on the 3rd level behind Section 201. Please note that the terrace level may be closed for some events.

Retired Numbers

The Griffins have retired the numbers of Michel Picard (7), Travis Richards (24), and Jeff Hoggan (10). Their banners are are located above the West end of the arena.

Sensory Bags

Van Andel Arena offers sensory items free of charge for patrons. To check out a sensory item visit Guest Services located on the arena concourse outside Section 104, a photo ID will be required to check out any item. Items are available on a first come first serve basis.
Sensory items available:
- Wiggle Seat: A specially designed wiggle seat helps calm and focus while allowing those using it to quietly move while working, enabling them to stay on task and be more productive. The sensory cushion is an outlet for excess energy.
- Lap Pad: Super soft fleece weighted Lap Pads are sensory tools that offer deep calming pressure; increasing the ability to focus, relieving anxiety and stress. It gives those with the wiggles a comforting sense of security and has a relaxing effect on the body and mind. Soothing dual textures alleviate excess energy, decrease restlessness, relieve stress and improve attentiveness.
- Noise Cancelling Headphones: World-class noise cancellation headphones will allow for a better listening experience in any environment. They feature a noise-rejecting, dual-mic system for clear sound and voice pick up. The balanced audio performance can be played at any volume and includes cable-free Bluetooth pairing.
- Fidget Toy/Pop-It's: These toys provide external stimuli to focus and an outlet for pent-up nervous energy. Pop-It fidget toys also help to relieve anxiety and stress by providing something to keep your hands busy, which are the most visibly affected body part in stressful situations.

Service Animals

Animals or pets of any kind are prohibited with the exception of trained service animals for guests with disabilities and/or special needs.

Signs/Flags/Posters

Unless otherwise specified by the team and / or event officials / management, Van Andel Arena welcomes guests bringing small signs, flags, banners and posters inside the building to show fan support during events. The following guidelines relate to these items:
Item must be related to event
Item may not be attached to a stick / pole
Item may not obstruct any sponsors / advertiser signage
Item may not be hung, attached, or displayed on any part of the building
Item may not contain or display obscene / offensive language and / or pictures, as determined by Van Andel Arena or tour management
Item may not be constructed or displayed in a manner that may obstruct the view of other guests or in any way create a safety hazard for others as determined by Van Andel Arena or tour management
Guests are not allowed to hand out pamphlets, advertisement brochures, etc. to other guests while inside the building, without prior approval from Van Andel Arena and tour management.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted in the arena at any time. This includes e-cigarettes/vaping. The arena does not offer a designated smoking area outside of the venue during events. As re-entry is not permitted, patrons who exit the arena for any reason, including to smoke, will not be allowed to re-enter the facility.

Strollers

Guests are encouraged to leave strollers in their vehicles prior to the arrival at the arena entrance. Small umbrella strollers with child can be used but must be collapsed and placed under your seat.

Throw For Dough

The Griffins Throw for Dough, presented by Lake Michigan Credit Union, is by far our most popular fundraising option. If you belong to a school or church group, college club, sports team or any non-profit organization that's looking to raise a few thousand dollars this fall/winter, be sure to contact the Griffins today as Throw For Dough opportunities are limited and will sell out. Try Outs

The Griffins do not hold tryouts for players. Training camp spots are by invitation only.

Waivers

Post-game skate and Zamboni ride waivers can be found at this link here. Fill out and print these in advance of your gameday experience to get on the ice and into the action quicker.

Weapons Prohibited

Weapons include, but are not limited to, the following: firearms, explosives, stun guns, handcuffs, brass knuckles, sticks, clubs, batons, martial arts instruments, pepper spray, tear gas, knives, etc. Guests found in possession of the above-mentioned items will be asked to remove the item from the venue or dispose of it. Guests who refuse to comply will be ejected from the venue and may be subject to arrest. Rarely, the carry of firearms may be allowed for individuals holding a valid concealed pistol license subject to all applicable state and federal laws—please contact the Van Andel Arena administrative office at 616-742-6600 with questions regarding specific events.

Wheelchairs

Complimentary wheelchair escorts will be provided upon request at every entry point, based on availability. Please be aware that our staff will not remain with you during an event, nor will they allow you to remain in the wheelchair for the duration of the event.

For guests who wish to transfer to a seat from their own personal wheelchair, we will store your wheelchair at our Guest Services booth located outside of Section 104 on the main level concourse. Our staff will make arrangements to return the wheelchair to you at the end of the event, or any other time you would prefer.

Will Call

The Will Call Window is located at the Box Office and opens at 5:30pm. Patrons will need a Valid ID to pick up their tickets for the game. Patrons can also leave tickets at Will Call if members of their party will be arriving late. Grand Rapids Griffins tickets are also sold in person at The Zone inside Van Andel Arena and online at GriffinsHockey.com.

Winning Wednesday

Every time the Griffins win at home on Wednesday, each fan in attendance will receive a free ticket to the next Wednesday game. To redeem a Winning Wednesday ticket, please visit the box office following the Winning Wednesday game, The Zone during normal business hours, or the Van Andel Arena box office prior to the next Wednesday game beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Youth Hockey

Experiences can be reserved for Youth and Adult Hockey teams including Afternoon Hockey and Intermission Shootouts. More information on coordinating one of these experiences for your hockey team can be found at this link here.

The Grand Rapids Griffins also proudly support the Griffins Youth Foundation. Established in 1995 by Dan and Pamella DeVos, the Griffins Youth Foundation promotes academic excellence, community involvement, and healthy lifestyles among the youth of West Michigan, enhancing their lives through hockey and ice-related sports. 

For more than two decades, we have eliminated the high financial and logistical barriers that prevent children from playing hockey. Our 350 boys and girls – many of whom are underprivileged, at-risk, underserved, or have other special needs – also receive life lessons that help them succeed far from the ice.
