WINGS BRING BACK FERRARO

Jul 25, 2014

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Friday re-signed center Landon Ferraro to a one-year contract.

Detroit’s first choice (32nd overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Ferraro tallied 31 points (15-16—31) and 52 penalty minutes in 70 regular season appearances with Grand Rapids last season. He also picked up three points (1-2—3) in nine playoff games with the team during the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs. In all, the 22-year-old Ferraro spent the last three full seasons and part of a fourth (2009-10) with the Griffins, notching 98 points (48-50—98) and 143 PIM in 200 games.

A native of Trail, British Columbia, Ferraro made his NHL debut with the Wings on March 18 in a 3-2 victory versus the Toronto Maple Leafs. During his time with Detroit, the 6-foot, 182-pound Ferraro skated in four games, registering two shots on goal and two PIM. Ferraro became the 142nd Griffins alumnus to play in the NHL.

Group tickets for eight guaranteed home dates at Van Andel Arena are now on sale along with 2014-15 season ticket packages. Single-game tickets will go on sale to the public in September. Fans can secure their full-season, select-season or group ticket packages by calling (616) 774-4585 ext. 2 or visit griffinshockey.com for more information.
