GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday recalled center Christoffer Ehn from the Grand Rapids Griffins and the Griffins assigned defenseman Trevor Hamilton to the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye.

Ehn has collected back-to-back two-point games with the Griffins, including scoring his first North American pro goal during last Saturday’s 2-1 win versus Milwaukee. The 22-year-old shows four points (1-3—4), a plus-five rating and two penalty minutes in five games with Grand Rapids while making his AHL debut.

In his first campaign in North America, the 6-foot-2, 193-pound center has appeared in nine games with the Red Wings, posting one point (0-1—1), a plus-two rating and four PIM while averaging 9:36 of ice time. The 106th overall selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by Detroit, Ehn secured his first NHL point on an assist on Oct. 11 vs. Toronto.

If he re-enters Detroit’s lineup, Ehn will become the 173rd Griffins alumnus to play in the NHL.

A native of Skara, Sweden, Ehn skated in 147 games with Frolunda in the Swedish Hockey League from 2013-18 and recorded 32 points (11-21—32). He produced career highs in goals (7), assists (10) and points (17) in 2017-18. Ehn helped Frolunda win back-to-back Champions League Tournament crowns in 2017 and 2016 and an SHL title in 2016.

In his rookie campaign, Hamilton made his AHL debut during the season opener on Oct. 5 at Texas and has skated in five games with the Griffins, tallying six PIM.

The 23-year-old made his professional debut at the end of last season, appearing in four games with the Walleye and picking up one assist. A native of Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich., Hamilton was named the Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-Big Ten selection in 2017-18 after pacing all conference defensemen with 29 points (6-23—29) in 38 games for the Penn State Nittany Lions.

With points in four consecutive outings, the Griffins will play a two-game set at the Manitoba Moose on Thursday and Saturday.
