KINDL TO FLORIDA

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Saturday traded defenseman Jakub Kindl to the Florida Panthers for a 2017 sixth-round pick.

Detroit’s first choice (19th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Kindl appeared in 273 games with the Red Wings across seven seasons, totaling 68 points (16-52—68) and 149 penalty minutes. In 19 Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Red Wings (2013 through 2015), he registered five points (1-4—5) and 12 PIM.

Kindl played for the Griffins in eight different seasons (2005-11; 14-16), totaling 249 career games. He accumulated 94 points (17-77—94), 239 PIM and earned a starting nod in the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic.

The Griffins host the Iowa Wild tonight at 7 p.m.
