Gylander and Truscott Sent to Toledo

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Thursday reassigned goaltender Carter Gylander to the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye from the Grand Rapids Griffins. In addition, the Griffins assigned defenseman Jacob Truscott to the Walleye. 

Gylander, a third-year pro, showed 24 saves during his season debut with Grand Rapids on Oct. 24 against Cleveland, earning his 50th pro win in a 5-2 decision. Gylander is now on a 10-game point streak with the Griffins (9-0-1), dating back to Dec. 7, 2024. Last season, he went 7-0-1 with Grand Rapids with a 1.62 goals-against average and a .942 save percentage in eight appearances. Throughout his three-year AHL career, the 25-year-old is 10-1-1 with one shutout, a 2.14 GAA and a .926 save percentage in 12 games. 

At the ECHL level with the Walleye, Gylander has shown a 40-19-10 regular-season record to go along with a 2.73 GAA, a .903 save percentage and four shutouts. In the Kelly Cup Playoffs, he has totaled a 12-6 mark with a 2.84 GAA and a .897 save percentage, reaching the 2025 Kelly Cup Finals. 

Truscott is in his second pro season and has appeared in two games with the Griffins this campaign, logging one assist and four penalty minutes. Last season, he produced three assists and four penalty minutes in 12 AHL appearances with Grand Rapids. The 24-year-old made his pro debut with the Griffins on Oct. 18, 2025, against Manitoba and later collected his first pro point with an assist on Oct. 28, 2025, at Iowa. 

Truscott spent the majority of last season in the ECHL with Toledo and notched 23 points (4-19—23), 12 penalty minutes and a plus-10 rating in 51 regular-season games. In addition, Truscott showed three points (1-2—3), 10 penalty minutes and a plus-three rating in 12 Kelly Cup Playoff contests a year ago.
