GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Saturday assigned forward Tomas Nosek to the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Nosek, 24, has played in 125 games with the Griffins since 2014, totaling 64 points (26-38—64) and tying for 10th all-time with a plus-43 rating. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound center ranked sixth on the Griffins in goals with 15 last season, and also appeared in six games with the Red Wings as he became the 152nd Griffins alumnus to play in the NHL.

The Pardubice, Czech Republic, native played three seasons for HC Pardubice in the Czech ExtraLiga prior to coming to North America. From 2011-14, Nosek appeared in 129 games, scored 62 points (24-38—62) and was a member of Pardubice’s 2011-12 league championship team.

Nosek has represented his home country in international play three separate times, including serving as captain for the Czechs at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championships and debuting with the senior Czech Republic team in 2013-14.

Coming off a 4-1 win against Iowa on Friday, Grand Rapids will host Chicago tonight at 7 p.m.
