Detroit Recalls Sheldon Dries from Griffins
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday recalled forward Sheldon Dries from the Grand Rapids Griffins under emergency conditions.
Dries has four points (3-1—4) and four penalty minutes in the first two AHL games of the regular season. Last season, the Macomb, Michigan, native logged 45 points (23-22—45) and a plus-20 rating in 57 regular-season outings with Grand Rapids. Throughout his 10-year AHL career, the 32-year-old has 293 points (164-129—293), 274 penalty minutes and a plus-47 rating in 398 appearances.
Last year, Dries competed in five games with the Red Wings, making his Detroit debut on March 12 at Tampa Bay. Throughout parts of six NHL seasons, Dries has 26 points (16-10—26) and 59 penalty minutes in 127 contests.
The Griffins will compete in the Home Opener presented by Huntington Bank this Friday at 7 p.m. against the Manitoba Moose.
