MILWAUKEE
– The Milwaukee Admirals sailed past Grand Rapids 5-1 Thursday night at the Bradley Center, kicking off a season-high six-game road trip for the Griffins.

The Griffins (17-17-1-4), who visited the Admirals (21-11-2-4) for the fifth of eight meetings this season, began a stretch of 11 of their 16 games on the road. They'll continue to Rockford on Saturday to take on the IceHogs at 8:05 p.m. EST.

The Griffins and Admirals skated through a scoreless first period, the only action being an exchange of punches between Adam Keefe and Scott Ford. The second period saw a change in the tide, as Milwaukee pulled ahead 2-1 before heading into the third.

Greg Amadio put the Griffins on the board first with a quick shot past Jeremy Smith at 10:07, his second goal in as many nights after going without one in his first 136 games with Grand Rapids. The Admirals returned fire with two consecutive goals, the first by Ryan Flynn at 18:18, followed closely with a power play goal by Matt Halischuk at 19:22 to wrap up the period.

Milwaukee kept the scoring alive, tallying three back-to-back goals early in the third period. Flynn claimed his second goal of the night at 3:30 of the period, only 13 seconds before Gabriel Bourque notched an unassisted goal at 3:43. The Admirals’ third goal slipped past Jordan Pearce at 6:44 off a shot by Andreas Thuresson, giving them a 5-1 win over the Griffins.

Pearce posted 25 saves, while Smith denied 30 shots.
