2023-24 Player in Review: Antti Tuomisto

Defenseman Antti Tuomisto skated in his first season with the Griffins and logged 17 points (5-12—17), 24 penalty minutes and a plus-four rating in 50 regular-season games. He then showed one assist and six penalty minutes in nine postseason outings. Tuomisto tied for 11th among rookie defensemen with five regular-season goals and tied for third among rookie blueliners with two game-winners. The 23-year-old also suited up for five games with the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye and totaled six points (4-2—6) and a plus-five rating.

By the Numbers 

13 – Made his North America pro debut on Oct. 13 against the Colorado Eagles.  

1 – Registered his first pro point in North America with a goal on Dec. 15 against the Texas Stars, which was also the game-winner.      

1 – Collected first AHL assist on Dec. 27 at the Rockford IceHogs.   

2 – Enjoyed first two-point game as a pro in North America on Jan. 20 at the Manitoba Moose (0-2—2).

100 – Participated in his 100th game as a professional on March 2 against the Rockford IceHogs. 

27 – Made his Calder Cup Playoffs debut on April 27 at the Rockford IceHogs and finished the postseason with one assist and six penalty minutes in nine outings. 

12 – Missed 12 straight games from Oct. 27-Nov. 29 due to rehabbing an upper-body injury.

2 – Made ECHL debut with the Toledo Walleye on Dec. 2 against the Iowa Heartlanders, scoring a goal in the process. Finished his five-game stint with the Walleye with six points (4-2—6) and a plus-five rating from Dec. 2-9.     

2 – Registered a season-high two assists on Jan. 20 at the Manitoba Moose and on March 1 against the Iowa Wild.  

3 – Went on a season-high three-game assist and point streak from Feb. 28-March 2 (0-4—4).

2 – Potted the game-winning goal twice throughout the regular season on Dec. 15 versus the Texas Stars and on Jan. 5 at the Iowa Wild.  

29 – Scored his only power-play goal of the season on Dec. 29 at the Chicago Wolves.    

4 – Season-high four penalty minutes on April 5 against the Rockford IceHogs.  

2 – Recorded back-to-back two-point nights with the Toledo Walleye from Dec. 8-9 against the Cincinnati Cyclones (3-1—4). 

9 – Notched first two-goal game as a pro in North America on Dec. 9 with the Walleye at the Cincinnati Cyclones.
