WINTERTIME FUN WITH THE GRIFFINS!

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Mark your calendar for two of the Grand Rapids Griffins' most popular annual community events!

5th Annual Griffins vs. Sled Wings Game
Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010
Griff's IceHouse - 30 Coldbrook St. NE

The Griffins will try to avenge two consecutive losses when they take on the Grand Rapids Sled Wings in another spirited sled hockey game. The Sled Wings, a talented team of physically challenged teenagers, are sponsored by the Griffins Youth Foundation and Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital.

6 p.m. - Try out a sled on the ice ($1 donation), challenge a Griffins player to air hockey or bubble hockey ($3 donation), and enjoy a free autograph session with Griffins players.

7 p.m. - Faceoff

Tickets - $5 at the door (free to children 2 and younger)

All proceeds benefit the Sled Wings and the Griffins Youth Foundation.



The Great Skate Winterfest
Saturday, Jan. 30-Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010
Rosa Parks Circle - Downtown Grand Rapids

Celebrate winter in our city and skate with Griffins players, all to benefit the Griffins Youth Foundation! Enjoy a day full of winter-inspired events, sports demonstrations and family activities, followed by a 24-hour skating marathon with Griffins players.


2ND ANNUAL WINTERFEST

Saturday, Jan. 30 from Noon until 10 p.m.
• Free admission (donations encouraged, certain activity fees apply)
• Ice skating - $1 skating fee/free skate rental
• Winter sports demonstrations (including Grand Rapids Sled Wings and Greater Grand Rapids Figure Skating Club)
• Family activity tent (including Grand Rapids Public Library, Grand Rapids Public Museum, Greater Grand Rapids Safe Kids, and Caricatures by David Wodarek)
• Ice sculpture demonstrations (Ice Sculptures Limited)
• Dog sled rides (weather permitting)
• Games (box hockey, bubble hockey, accuracy puck shooting)
• Fire pits and warming tent

8TH ANNUAL GREAT SKATE
Saturday, Jan. 30 at 10 p.m. until Sunday, Jan. 31 at 10 p.m.
• Free admission and skate rental, no skating fee (donations encouraged)
• Skate around the clock with Griffins players and coaches, as well as local celebrities and media personalities.
• Help raise money for the Griffins Youth Foundation by soliciting pledges for your participation through Firstgiving.org (coming in January).
• Ice sculpture demonstrations (Ice Sculptures Limited)
• Winter animals (John Ball Zoo)
• Games (box hockey, bubble hockey, accuracy puck shooting)
• Fire pits and warming tent
