WINGS SIGN LASHOFF TO EXTENSION
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Thursday signed defenseman Brian Lashoff to a one-year contract extension.
A native of Albany, N.Y., Lashoff played in 74 games with the Griffins during the 2015-16 season and set a career high with 15 assists while also accumulating 16 points (1-15—16), 30 penalty minutes and a plus-four rating. Skating in nine Calder Cup Playoff games, he contributed three points (2-1—3) including two goals that tied for the most among team defensemen.
In 268 career regular season games with the Griffins dating back to the 2008-09 season, the 6-foot-3, 221-pound blueliner has accounted for 58 points (13-45—58) and 133 PIM. Lashoff has played the fourth-most postseason games in franchise history, appearing in 51 career Calder Cup Playoff games and totaling 12 points (3-9—12).
Logging 117 games in the NHL – all with the Detroit Red Wings – the 25-year-old has tallied 13 points (2-11—13) and 57 PIM. In his most recent stint with the parent club in 2014-15, Lashoff contributed two points (0-2—2) and six PIM in 11 games. He has played in eight career Stanley Cup Playoff games but has not recorded a point.
The Griffins will begin the home portion of their 2016-17 season with Opening Night presented by Huntington Bank on Friday, Oct. 14 at Van Andel Arena. Additional home dates confirmed by the American Hockey League include Dec. 31, Jan. 7, Jan. 21, Feb. 4 and Feb. 25.
