WINGS RECALL SIX, SIGN TWO TO PROFESSIONAL TRYOUTS
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Friday recalled forwards Mitch Callahan, Calle Jarnkrok, Teemu Pulkkinen and Riley Sheahan; defenseman Ryan Sproul; and goaltender Jared Coreau from the Grand Rapids Griffins. Additionally, the Red Wings signed Griffins forward Jeff Hoggan and defenseman Nathan Paetsch to professional tryouts.
This group joins three other Griffins in Detroit - forwards Luke Glendening and Tomas Jurco, along with defenseman Xavier Ouellet - who were called up from Grand Rapids earlier this week. The Wings will battle the Leafs in Toronto at 7 p.m. tomorrow night in the second of back-to-back skirmishes, when the players called up from Grand Rapids today will be available to play.
The Griffins will conclude training camp this weekend with a pair of neutral-site preseason games against the Lake Erie Monsters. Grand Rapids will first battle the Monsters on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. at Compuware Arena in Plymouth, Mich., before squaring off again on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 7:05 p.m. at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario.
