WILSON HEADED FOR STAR-DOM
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Grand Rapids Griffins left wing Landon Wilson was recalled by the Dallas Stars on Friday.
Wilson, 33, paces the American Hockey League with seven power play goals and ranks among the Griffins’ leaders with eight goals (T1st), seven assists (T4th), 15 points (T2nd) and 37 penalty minutes (1st). He currently owns a five-game point streak (2-3—5) and has been held off the scoresheet only three times in his 15 games with Grand Rapids.
Toronto’s second choice (19th overall) in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, Wilson has logged 111 points (51-60—111) and 331 PIM in 348 career NHL contests with Colorado, Boston, Phoenix and Pittsburgh.
Should he make his Stars debut against the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday, Wilson would become the 97th Griffins alumnus to play in the NHL. It would also mark his first NHL appearance since the 2003-04 season with Pittsburgh.
The Griffins will look to earn their fourth consecutive home win tonight when they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7 p.m.
