TWO FROM TOLEDO
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Monday reassigned goaltender Tom McCollum from the Toledo Walleye (ECHL) to the Grand Rapids Griffins. Additionally, the Griffins today signed forward Nick Oslund to a professional tryout.
McCollum, 21, has appeared in 54 games over two seasons (2009-11) with the Griffins, posting a 16-28-4 record and a 3.42 goals against average. The Sanborn, N.Y., native currently ranks 15th in the ECHL with a 2.57 GAA alongside a 1-3 record for Toledo.
Oslund, 23, was a seventh-round selection (191st overall) of the Red Wings in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He rejoins the Griffins after signing an amateur tryout contract during training camp on Sept. 28. The Burnsville, Minn., native has skated in six games with the Walleye this season, recording one assist and 11 penalty minutes.
Both players join the Griffins as they prepare to finish a three-game homestand on Wednesday versus the Rockford IceHogs at noon. in their 11th annual matinee game. Tickets are still available at griffinshockey.com.
