TONIGHT'S HOME FINALE SOLD OUT
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins have announced that tonight’s regular season home finale versus the Abbotsford Heat at 7 p.m. is sold out. Van Andel Arena will welcome the season’s fourth capacity crowd of 10,834.
The 135th sellout in franchise history marks the third straight year and fifth time in the last six seasons that the Griffins have sold out their final home game.
However, a couple hundred “access tickets” are still available for $10 apiece, allowing holders to sit in unused seats after 7:25 p.m. (restrictions apply). While they last, access tickets may be purchased in person at The Zone on the west side of Van Andel Arena, or at the arena box office after 5:30 p.m.
Those unable to attend the game can tune into the award-winning play-by-play of Bob Kaser on ESPN 96.1, beginning with the 6:45 p.m. pre-game show, or watch the live video webcast at AHLLive.com.
The Griffins, whose current average attendance of 7,149 ranks fifth out of 30 AHL teams, will finish with an attendance increase for the fourth time in the last five seasons. Tonight’s sellout will give the Griffins a 3.2% attendance increase over last season, and the season-ending figure of 289,646 (7,241 avg.) will mark their second-largest in 10 seasons of AHL membership (297,905/7,448 in 2008-09).
