THREE REASSIGNED TO TOLEDO
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Thursday reassigned forwards Andrej Nestrasil and Brent Raedeke and defenseman Max Nicastro from the Grand Rapids Griffins to the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye.
Nestrasil, 21, made his season debut with Grand Rapids on Dec. 19 versus Rochester and skated in three games for the Griffins. He shows four points (3-1—4) in 28 career games with the Griffins, as well as 53 points (14-39—53) in 78 games with the Walleye. The Prague, Czech Republic, native currently holds the second-longest active point streak in the ECHL, recording 11 points (1-10—11) over an eight-game stretch from Nov. 30 until he was reassigned to Grand Rapids on Dec. 17.
Raedeke, 22, has spent his entire professional career with the Griffins, registering 38 points (20-18—38) in 147 career games. The Regina, Saskatchewan, native set career highs with the team in 2011-12, notching 21 points (11-10—21) in 64 games. He joins the Walleye after notching four points (1-3—4) and 10 penalty minutes in 14 games with the Griffins this season, including a two-point game (1-1—2) on Nov. 2 at San Antonio.
Nicastro, 22, has seen action in five games with Grand Rapids this season, notching his first professional goal on Nov. 16 at Lake Erie. The Thousand Oaks, Calif., native has also appeared in three games with the Walleye, scoring a goal in his ECHL debut when he notched the game-tying tally with one second remaining in a 3-2 overtime win for Toledo over Kalamazoo on Nov. 30.
Winners of three straight, the Griffins will host three games in four nights this weekend as they continue their season-high seven-game homestand. Grand Rapids will first host Toronto for back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., before closing out 2012 with their 16th Annual New Year’s Eve Celebration versus Rockford at 6 p.m. on Monday.
