GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday assigned defenseman Ryan Sproul to the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Sproul, 21, has skated in 53 games with Grand Rapids, tallying 24 points (8-16—24), 32 penalty minutes and a plus-five rating in his first professional season.
