SMITH BACK TO DETROIT
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday recalled defenseman Brendan Smith from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Smith, 22, has yet to play this season while serving NHL and AHL suspensions. He was assigned to Grand Rapids on Sunday after being recalled by Detroit on Saturday.
The Griffins will take to the ice for their second contest of the season this Friday at 7 p.m. versus the Toronto Marlies. Tickets for the Griffins’ anticipated 16th consecutive opening-night sellout are still available at griffinshockey.com.
