QUINCEY RETURNS, RUDKOWSKY SIGNS

Oct 26, 2007

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Friday assigned defenseman Kyle Quincey to the Grand Rapids Griffins, who today signed goaltender Cody Rudkowsky to a professional tryout.

Quincey, 22, suffered a broken hand during training camp in Traverse City and was placed on the Red Wings’ injured reserve list before rehabbing in Grand Rapids. Last season, he tallied 22 points (4-18—22) in 65 games for the Griffins, while recording an assist in six regular season contests with Detroit and logging 13 games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Rudkowsky, 29, is a nine-year pro who has appeared in 108 career AHL games, posting a 38-39-17 record with a 2.86 goals against average and four shutouts. He is currently in his second season with the ECHL’s Phoenix Roadrunners, showing a 2-1-0 mark and a 2.67 GAA in three games.

Both Quincey and Rudkowsky will be available on Saturday when the Griffins kick off a home-and-home set against the Peoria Rivermen in an 8 p.m. EDT start at Carver Arena.
