PARKES AND PEARCE REASSIGNED TO GRAND RAPIDS
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday reassigned right wing Trevor Parkes and goaltender Jordan Pearce to the Grand Rapids Griffins from the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye.
Parkes, 21, made his season debut with the Walleye on Friday and recorded four points (2-2—4) in three games over the weekend. The Fort Erie, Ontario, native has tallied eight points (6-2—8) in seven career ECHL contests and 15 points (5-10—15) in 69 games with the Griffins over his two professional seasons. He has skated in 25 games with Grand Rapids this season, registering seven points (3-4—7) and 26 penalty minutes.
Pearce, 26, sports a 12-7-1 record, a 2.48 goals against average, a 0.909 save percentage and two shutouts in 21 appearances with Toledo this season. The Anchorage, Alaska, native has made six starts with the Walleye this month, showing a 3-2-1 record, a 1.65 GAA and a 0.940 save percentage. A fourth-year pro, Pearce has appeared in 140 career games with Toledo and Grand Rapids, compiling a 55-59-8 record, a 3.29 goals against average and seven shutouts.
The Griffins will open February on the road in Hamilton to battle the Bulldogs on Friday at 7:30 p.m. before returning to Grand Rapids to host the Abbotsford Heat on Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at griffinshockey.com.
