OSGOOD TO MAKE HOME START
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. Detroit Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood is scheduled to start for the Grand Rapids Griffins this Saturday, Oct. 22 at Van Andel Arena, when they host the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights at 7 p.m.
Osgood, who was assigned to Grand Rapids on Tuesday for conditioning, made his Griffins debut in their 6-3 win at San Antonio on Wednesday. In his first action since injuring his groin in training camp, Osgood made 22 saves to earn his first American Hockey League victory since the 1994-95 season.
The Griffins sit atop the North Division with a 4-1-0-0 record and boast one of the AHLs top offenses, averaging 4.4 goals per game. Reigning CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week Jiri Hudler leads the league and has set team records with nine goals and 13 points through five games, while linemate Kent McDonell is tied for first on the circuit with eight assists.
