OFF TO TOLEDO
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday reassigned center Louis-Marc Aubry and defenseman Nick Jensen from the Grand Rapids Griffins to the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye.
Aubry, 22, has appeared in one contest with the Griffins this season, posting five penalty minutes and one shot on goal. The 6-foot-4, 213-pound forward has skated in 127 career games with Grand Rapids since 2011, registering 28 points (9-19—28) and 104 penalty minutes. A native of Arthabaska, Quebec, Aubry set a career-high 60 penalty minutes in 64 games and notched 12 points (4-8—12) during the 2012-13 season, when he won the Calder Cup with the Griffins.
Jensen, 23, previously played with the WCHA’s St. Cloud State, registering 86 points (15-71—86) and 36 PIM in 118 collegiate games. During the 2012-13 season with the Huskies, Jensen tallied 31 points (4-27—31) and 14 PIM in 42 games en route to helping his team capture its best season in franchise history with an appearance in the NCAA Frozen Four. Jensen was subsequently honored as the WCHA Defensive Player of the Year. Rehabbing an injury suffered during training camp, Jensen was cleared from injury and assigned to play for the Griffins yesterday. He has not appeared in any games with Grand Rapids this season.
The Griffins (10-4-1-1) host the Milwaukee Admirals tonight at 7 p.m. before back-to-back games on the road this weekend. The team will battle the Iowa Wild on Friday at 8:05 p.m., followed by a match versus the Chicago Wolves on Saturday at 8 p.m.
