NYQUIST REJOINS GRIFFINS
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday assigned left wing Gustav Nyquist to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Nyquist, 22, logged 11:07 of ice time in his NHL debut on Tuesday as the Red Wings lost to the Minnesota Wild 2-1 in overtime, becoming the Griffins’ 118th NHL alumnus. He was recalled to the Red Wings on Monday.
The Halmstad, Sweden, native is currently in a fifth-place tie in AHL rookie scoring with nine points (4-5—9) through his first nine games. He recorded points in each of the Griffins’ first four games this season, totaling three goals and two assists along the way.
Nyquist will be in the Griffins’ lineup tonight as they host the Lake Erie Monsters at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at griffinshockey.com.
