NICASTRO RETURNS

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Monday reassigned defenseman Max Nicastro to the Grand Rapids Griffins from the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye.

Nicastro, 23, has skated in five games with the Griffins during his first professional season, recording one goal. The Thousand Oaks, Calif., native has also appeared in nine games with the Walleye, registering five points (2-3—5). The 6-foot-3, 225-pound blueliner has picked up four points (1-3—4) in his last five games with Toledo. Nicastro spent the past three seasons at Boston University, recording 33 points (11-22—33) in 102 collegiate games.

The Griffins are in the middle of a four-game road trip that will end this week with stops in Rockford on both Wednesday and Friday at 8:05 p.m. EST. The Griffins will return home this Saturday to host the Peoria Rivermen at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at griffinshockey.com.
