GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Monday assigned right wing Jan Mursak to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
In six preseason games with the Red Wings, Mursak tied for second on the club with two goals and tied for sixth with three points. The 22-year-old native of Maribor, Slovenia, had a breakout 2009-10 season with the Griffins, placing second on the team with 24 goals and tying for third with 42 points.
The Griffins will aim for their 15th consecutive opening night sellout this Friday, Oct. 8 when they host the Abbotsford Heat at 7 p.m., marking the first time since 2005 that they’ll open the AHL’s regular season at home.
