MRAZEK RECALLED, COREAU REASSIGNED
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday recalled goaltender Petr Mrazek from the Grand Rapids Griffins and reassigned goaltender Jared Coreau from the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye to their AHL affiliate.
Mrazek, 21, has appeared in 13 contests with the Griffins this season, ranking among the AHL’s leaders with 10 wins (T4th – 10-2-1), a 2.09 goals against average (3rd) and a 0.927 save percentage (T4th). The Ostrava, Czech Republic, native is on a career-high nine-game winning streak with Grand Rapids and a 10-game winning streak overall, including shutout victories for Detroit on Nov. 2 and Grand Rapids on Nov. 20. The 6-foot-1, 187-pound netminder has played in three career games with the Wings, registering a 2-1 record, a 1.34 GAA and a 0.938 save percentage.
Coreau, 22, made his professional debut with Grand Rapids in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Toronto Marlies on Oct. 5, his only appearance with the Griffins. The 6-foot-4, 208-pound goaltender has also appeared in nine matches with the Walleye this season, registering a 1-5-3 record, a 4.42 GAA and 0.865 save percentage.
The Griffins will battle the Chicago Wolves tonight at 7 p.m. at Van Andel Arena, when Coreau will be available to play, before hosting the Milwaukee Admirals in back-to-back tilts on Friday and Saturday to finish out a seven-game home stand.
The Wings will face the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Tampa Bay Times Forum, when Mrazek will be available to play.
