MRAZEK HEADS TO DETROIT
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Saturday recalled goaltender Petr Mrazek from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
A native of Ostrava, Czech Republic, Mrazek leads all AHL goaltenders with a 2.01 goals against average and a 0.928 save percentage (tied) and owns an 18-5-1 record in 24 appearances with Grand Rapids this season. In a 4-0 blanking of the Iowa Wild at Van Andel Arena last night, the 22-year-old earned his third AHL shutout of the season behind a 16-save performance.
The 6-foot-1, 187-pound Mrazek has also appeared between the pipes in seven games with Detroit this season, yielding a 1.64 GAA, a 0.924 save percentage and a 1-3-0 record. Mrazek posted his first NHL shutout versus the Edmonton Oilers on Nov. 2, when he turned away 14 shots.
The Griffins will host the Iowa Wild tonight at 7 p.m. before embarking on a season-high seven-game road trip.
