McCOLLUM RETURNS
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday assigned goaltender Thomas McCollum to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
McCollum, 21, served as backup to Joey MacDonald during the Wings’ 6-5 overtime win against Columbus last Saturday. He has spent the majority of this season with the Griffins, going 5-10-2 with one shutout, a 3.11 goals against average and a 0.884 save percentage in 17 appearances. He also has played five games for the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye, compiling a 3-1 record with one shutout, a 2.55 GAA and a 0.913 save percentage.
After completing their season-high six-game road trip with Tuesday’s 4-3 overtime win at Texas, the Griffins will return home this Friday (7 p.m.) and Saturday (8 p.m.) to face the Chicago Wolves.
