McCOLLUM ASSIGNED TO TOLEDO
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday assigned goaltender Tom McCollum to the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
McCollum, 22, posted a 4-3 record in seven games with the Griffins, along with a 3.17 goals against average and 0.896 save percentage. He helped lead the Griffins to their first three-game winning streak of the season last week, personally winning three straight games for the first time since he won four in a row as a rookie from Oct. 24-Nov. 13, 2009.
The Sanborn, N.Y., native returns to the Walleye, where he has appeared in five games this season and posted a 1-3 record, 2.57 GAA and 0.914 save percentage.
The Griffins are preparing for their second three-in-three of the season, which kicks off on Friday at 8 p.m. EST in Milwaukee. The Griffins will then travel to Rockford for a Saturday game against the IceHogs at 8:05 p.m. EST and Chicago on Sunday for a 4 p.m. EST tilt against the Wolves.
