MACDONALD TO MOTOWN
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Monday recalled goaltender Joey MacDonald from the Grand Rapids Griffins.
MacDonald, 31, ranks among the AHL’s early season goaltending leaders with a 1.98 GAA (10th), a 0.935 save percentage (T9th), three wins (T3rd), one shutout (T1st) and a 0.889 shootout percentage (5th) in five appearances. The Pictou, Nova Scotia, native broke three Griffins goaltending records last week, overtaking former teammate Jimmy Howard as the franchise’s career leader in games played (189), minutes (10675:01) and saves (4,852).
MacDonald will join the Red Wings for Tuesday’s game in Columbus at 7 p.m.
