MacDONALD RETURNS TO GRIFFINS
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Monday assigned goaltender Joey MacDonald to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
MacDonald, 31, shows a 3-4-1 record for Detroit and leads the Red Wings’ netminders in goal against average (2.48) and save percentage (0.912) through 10 appearances this season. Meanwhile, in 20 games with Grand Rapids, he has a 10-9-1 record with one shutout, a team-leading 2.78 GAA and a 0.894 save percentage.
MacDonald, who has been with Detroit since Jan. 24, will return to the Griffins’ lineup on Wednesday when Grand Rapids hosts the Oklahoma City Barons at 7 p.m. for the first of an unprecedented four home games in five nights.
