LASHOFF RETURNS, McCOLLUM TO DETROIT
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings have assigned defenseman Brian Lashoff to the Grand Rapids Griffins and recalled goaltender Tom McCollum from the Griffins.
Lashoff, 22, appeared in 31 regular season games with the Red Wings, tallying five points (1-4—5) and 15 penalty minutes. The Albany, N.Y., native scored a goal in his NHL debut with the Red Wings on Jan. 21 at Columbus and has made three playoff appearances. A 6-foot-3, 216-pound defenseman, Lashoff also skated in 37 games with the Griffins, notching six points (2-4—6) and 23 penalty minutes.
McCollum, 23, appeared in 31 games with the Griffins this season, winning a career-high 18 games and sporting a career-best 2.63 goals against average. The Sanborn, N.Y., native owns a 45-55-6 record, a 3.21 GAA and three shutouts in four seasons with the club. He ranks among the Griffins’ all-time goaltending leaders with 113 games played (3rd), 6320:02 minutes (3rd), 45 wins (T5th), 2,728 saves (3rd) and five shootout wins (T7th).
Lashoff is expected to be in the lineup when the Griffins take on the Toronto Marlies for Game 2 of their Western Conference Semifinal series today at Ricoh Coliseum. The best-of-seven series will then turn to Grand Rapids for Games 3 and 4 next Wednesday and Friday, in addition to a potential Game 5 on Saturday.
