LARSSON GOES EAST, CENTOMO HEADS WEST
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Thursday recalled goaltender Daniel Larsson from the Grand Rapids Griffins, who today released goaltender Sebastien Centomo from his professional tryout.
Larsson, 23, shows a 5-2-0 record with one shutout, a 2.70 goals against average and a 0.916 save percentage through seven appearances with the Griffins this season. The native of Boden, Sweden, made a career-high 41 saves to lead Grand Rapids to a 6-1 win over Abbotsford on Oct. 25, and four days later stopped 34 shots in a 2-0 victory against Houston for his first shutout of the campaign and sixth as a Griffin.
Larsson is expected to back up Jimmy Howard tonight when the Red Wings host the Vancouver Canucks at 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Detroit.
Centomo, 28, served as backup to Larsson during the Griffins’ 2-1 shootout win over Lake Erie on Wednesday. He has logged seven games with the IHL’s Muskegon Lumberjacks this season, showing a 3-3-1 record and ranking among the league’s leaders with a 2.69 GAA (5th) and a 0.917 save percentage (T4th).
