GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday reassigned defenseman Richard Nedomlel from the Grand Rapids Griffins to the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye. In addition, the Griffins recalled left wing Shane Berschbach from Toledo and assigned center Alden Hirschfeld to the Walleye.

Nedomlel, 21, appeared in three contests with the Griffins during the 2013-14 season, registering two penalty minutes and one shot on goal. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound defenseman also skated in 60 games with the Walleye last season and racked up 18 points (8-10—18) and 150 penalty minutes. Detroit’s eighth choice (175th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Nedomlel earned 84 points (17-67—84) and 295 PIM in 210 games with the WHL’s Swift Current Broncos prior to turning pro.

Berschbach, 23, made his AHL debut with the Griffins at Van Andel Arena on Oct. 10 versus the Lake Erie Monsters and registered one shot on goal in the contest. Since being assigned to Toledo on Oct. 15, he has picked up one goal in three contests with the Walleye. Prior to signing a one-year contract with Grand Rapids on July 1, the Royal Oak, Mich. native spent four seasons with Western Michigan University from 2010-14, picking up 117 points (39-78—117) in 146 career collegiate games.

Hirschfeld, 26, signed a one-year contract with Grand Rapids on July 23 and has since picked up one assist in four games with the team. The 6-foot, 203-pound center spent the majority of the 2013-14 season with the Walleye and accumulated 29 points (9-20—29) in 49 games, ranking second on the Walleye in assists and sixth overall in scoring. A native of Sylvania, Ohio, Hirschfeld also made 13 appearances with the Griffins last season, earning a goal, an assist and a plus-three rating.

Continuing a four-game homestand, the Griffins will take on the Rockford IceHogs on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and the Chicago Wolves on Friday at 7 p.m.
