GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Wednesday signed goaltender Clayton Pool to a professional tryout.
The 28-year-old Pool, in his second season with the Muskegon Fury, currently leads the United Hockey League in every major goaltending category with 25 wins (25-3-0), a 2.18 goals against average, a 0.929 save percentage and three shutouts (tied) in 28 appearances.
In a matinee game earlier today, he stopped 22 shots in regulation and all seven shootout attempts to lead the Fury to a 4-3 home win over the Flint Generals.
Pool, a native of Abbotsford, British Columbia, will be in uniform tonight when the Griffins host the Peoria Rivermen at 7 p.m.
