JANIK ASSIGNED BY DETROIT
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Thursday assigned defenseman Doug Janik to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
A native of Agawam, Mass., Janik is second among Griffins defensemen with 26 points (7-19—26) and owns a team-best plus-18 rating in 56 games. The 31-year-old defenseman recorded one assist, a plus-two rating and six penalty minutes in nine games with Detroit, giving him 19 points (3-16—19) and 154 penalty minutes in 190 career NHL games. Janik also has 183 points (36-147—183) in 580 career contests in the AHL.
Janik is expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Griffins visit San Antonio at 8 p.m. EDT. The team will then play back-to-back games against Oklahoma City on Saturday at 8 p.m. EDT and Sunday at 5 p.m. EDT.
