HUSSEY'S IN HOCKEYTOWN
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Center Matt Hussey was recalled by the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday from the Grand Rapids Griffins, who today released defenseman Jim Jackson from his professional tryout.
Hussey, 27, joins the parent club for the third time this season. Most recently, he was recalled by the Red Wings on Monday and logged his second game with Detroit in Tuesday’s 4-1 win at Chicago, before returning to the Griffins and taking part in Wednesday’s 3-2 overtime loss at Rochester. Hussey helped Grand Rapids earn a point by assisting on Darryl Bootland’s game-tying goal with 14 seconds left in regulation, giving him points in 13 of his last 15 games (6-11—17) as a Griffin. He ranks third on the team in scoring with 39 points (14-25—39) in 57 contests.
Jackson, 26, made his AHL debut last night in Rochester. The Marquette, Mich., native returns to ECHL Gwinnett, where he has totaled 29 points (11-18—29) in 54 games this season.
