GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Friday recalled goaltender Drew MacIntyre from the ECHLs Toledo Storm. He assumes the lineup spot of Jimmy Howard, who was granted a leave of absence on Tuesday following the death of his grandmother.

MacIntyre, 22, began the season with the Griffins, posting an 8-3-0 record with a team-best 2.53 goals against average and 0.908 save percentage in 12 appearances. He has played 36 games for the Griffins over the last two seasons, showing a 15-11-0 record with one shutout, a 2.63 GAA and a 0.904 save percentage.

Since being assigned to Toledo on Jan. 2, MacIntyre has compiled a sparkling 7-1-2 record with one shutout, a 2.52 GAA and a 0.916 save percentage in 10 games for the Storm.

MacIntyre will be available for duty tonight when the Griffins host the defending Calder Cup champion Philadelphia Phantoms in a 7 p.m. start at Van Andel Arena.
