APPEARANCES BY LOCAL PROS HIGHLIGHT GRIFFINS' SOLD-OUT YOUTH HOCKEY CAMP

WHAT: The Grand Rapids Griffins will conduct their annual youth hockey camp, which helps young players maximize their skills through on-ice instruction, dry-land training and film/off-ice instruction.

WHEN: Monday, July 30 through Friday, Aug. 3
On-ice sessions run approximately 8:30-11:15 a.m. and 12:30-3:15 p.m. daily.

WHO: The camp operates under the management of Griffins VP of broadcasting and community relations Bob Kaser and the instruction of Griffins assistant coach Jim Paek, a two-time Stanley Cup champion as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Griffins forward Luke Glendening (East Grand Rapids) will be a guest instructor during each afternoon session, while Detroit Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader (Muskegon) will visit the camp on Tuesday afternoon. In addition, NHL veteran Mike Knuble (Kentwood) will make a special appearance on a to-be-determined date and time.

Eighty-two children ranging in age from 6 to 16 will take part in the camp. Donations from camp sponsors are enabling 12 children from Griffins Youth Foundation programs to participate at no cost.
