GUARDIAN ANGEL
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday signed defenseman Brett Angel to a professional tryout.
The 24-year-old Angel, a 6-6, 240 lb. rookie from Acadia University, has four assists in 33 games with the UHLs Muskegon Fury this season and leads the club with 136 penalty minutes.
In 1999, Angel was chosen by the Nashville Predators with their seventh selection in the NHL Entry Draft. He attended training camp with the Griffins in September and will be available to make his AHL debut tonight when Grand Rapids hosts the Chicago Wolves in a 7 p.m. start at Van Andel Arena.
