GRIFFINS WELCOME SEVEN FROM DETROIT
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Saturday added seven players to their training camp roster, all of whom were assigned by the Detroit Red Wings: defensemen Greg Amadio, Bryan Helmer and Derek Meech, and forwards Darryl Bootland, Tomas Kopecky, Eric Manlow and Ryan Oulahen.
Each assignee played for the Griffins last season with the exception of Oulahen, a rookie who spent the last three seasons with Brampton of the Ontario Hockey League.
The seven join four other players who were assigned to Grand Rapids by Detroit earlier this week. Forwards Eric Himelfarb and Todd Jackson (Wed.) and goaltenders Logan Koopmans and Drew MacIntyre (Fri.) have already taken part in Griffins training camp practices.
Griffins training camp continues this afternoon with an intrasquad scrimmage at 4 p.m. at Griffs IceHouse at Belknap Park.
