GRIFFINS WELCOME BACK MURSAK
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Friday assigned right wing Jan Mursak to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Mursak, 23, returns from a one-game stint in Detroit, having played in the Red Wings’ 4-1 home loss to Dallas last night. He has netted one goal and logged an average of 8:11 in ice time over 18 games with the parent club this season.
The second native of Slovenia to play in the NHL (Los Angeles’ Anze Kopitar), Mursak currently ranks among the Griffins’ leaders with 11 goals (T5th), 17 assists (7th) and 28 points (6th) through 39 games. He has tallied five points (1-4—5) in his last five appearances in a Grand Rapids uniform.
Mursak will be in the Griffins’ lineup tonight when they kick off a crucial home-and-home series against the Lake Erie Monsters at 7 p.m. at Van Andel Arena.
