GRIFFINS' THIRD ANNUAL JERSEY DESIGN CONTEST NOW OPEN
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Grand Rapids Griffins fans and aspiring artists everywhere have one month to submit their entries for the team’s third annual jersey design contest.
Those with graphic design skills and a creative touch are encouraged to submit their jersey design at puckdrawn.com, with Monday, Aug. 1, 2011 as the deadline for entries. The team will pick one entrant’s design for the Griffins to sport during their 15th annual New Year’s Eve game on Dec. 31, 2011. These special jerseys will be auctioned to the public immediately after that game, with all proceeds benefiting a to-be-determined charity.
All designs will be presented to Griffins ownership and game operations staff, who will submit one for approval by the American Hockey League and Reebok. The fan whose design is ultimately used will receive a customized jersey of their winning entry, public recognition, and four tickets to the Dec. 31 game. If the winner is from outside the Grand Rapids area, other merchandise will be given in lieu of game tickets.
For complete contest rules and additional information, including a gallery of design entries, please visit puckdrawn.com.
Last year’s winner was Ryan Muraro of Waukesha, Wisc., whose dramatic vision of a vigilant, muscular Griff was chosen from 97 entries. During 2009-10, the competition’s first season, designs by Grand Rapids artists Brian Oesch and Chad B. Stilson were chosen from more than 50 entries to grace Griffins players during two select games.
