GRIFFINS "STICK WITH SCHOOL" IN '06
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League are teaming with Alticor on a community initiative that encourages West Michigan youths to stay in school.
The Stick With School program, presented by Alticor, rewards local students throughout the Grand Rapids Public Schools. The program will debut with Griffins players appearing at five elementary schools between Jan. 9-13, speaking to kids about the role of education in their careers and lives, as well as the importance of going to class and staying in school.
Beginning with the Griffins Jan. 21 game against the Toronto Marlies, students with perfect attendance records at participating schools will receive two free tickets to the contest. Elementary schools currently affiliated with the program include William C. Abney Elementary, Alexander Elementary, Ken-O-Sha Elementary, Shawmut Hills Elementary, and Southeast Academic Center.
