GRIFFINS SIGN TRENT DAAVETTILA
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Sunday signed left wing Trent Daavettila to a professional tryout.
Daavettila, 25, has appeared in 17 games for the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings this season, totaling 18 points (9-9—18) and a plus-seven rating. Last night, he posted a season-high four points (1-3—4) in the Wings’ 6-3 win over the visiting Toledo Storm and goaltender Thomas McCollum.
The Howell, Mich., native made his AHL debut with Adirondack in late November and spent most of December with the Phantoms, contributing two assists in 11 games before his Dec. 30 release.
Daavettila is expected to make his Griffins debut today at 4 p.m. when the Lake Erie Monsters pay a visit to Van Andel Arena.
