GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Monday announced the signings of defenseman Jason Jozsa (JOH-sa) and right wing Francis Lemieux (leh-M’YOO) to American Hockey League contracts.

Jozsa, 27, appeared in an AHL career-high 25 games between Grand Rapids (23) and Quad City (2) last season, counting his first AHL goal among his six points (1-5—6) scored as a Griffin. After also registering 30 points (2-28—30) in 49 regular season contests with ECHL Las Vegas, the native of Calgary, Alberta, helped lead the Wranglers to the Kelly Cup Finals, contributing 10 points (4-6—10) in 21 playoff contests to place second among Las Vegas defensemen and seventh among ECHL blueliners.

Lemieux, 24, was acquired by the Detroit Red Wings from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Brett Engelhardt on Feb. 8, 2008. The Sherbrooke, Quebec, native logged 26 games with Grand Rapids after his assignment, tallying 11 points (6-5—11) and 28 PIM. He also appeared in 33 contests for the Hamilton Bulldogs last season, earning six assists and 27 PIM.

A fourth-year pro, Lemieux was a member of Hamilton’s 2007 Calder Cup championship squad. He scored a career-high 18 goals and tied for fifth on the Bulldogs with 40 points (18-22—40) during his rookie season in 2005-06.
