GRIFFINS RECALL KOOPMANS
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Tuesday recalled goaltender Logan Koopmans from the Toledo Storm of the ECHL.
Koopmans, 21, is playing his first pro season after being selected by the Detroit Red Wings with their fifth choice (166th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. In 25 games with Toledo, he has compiled a 12-10-1 record with two shutouts, a 2.82 GAA and a 0.906 save percentage.
Koopmans, who served as Drew MacIntyres understudy during two Griffins games in early January and Joey MacDonalds backup for seven games in March, will be in uniform tonight when the Griffins visit the Milwaukee Admirals. The game will be televised live throughout Michigan at 8 p.m. on Comcast Local (channel 23 in Grand Rapids).
