GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Thursday agreed to terms with center David McIntyre on a one-year AHL contract.

McIntyre, 26, spent the last two seasons (2011-13) with the Houston Aeros, recording 66 points (31-35—66) and 118 penalty minutes in 131 games. The 6-foot, 195-pound forward led the Aeros last season with a plus-19 rating and also ranked among team leaders with 15 goals (T4th), 18 assists (T6th), 33 points (5th), 45 PIM (T5th), three game-winning goals (T3rd) and 143 shots (3rd). He also recorded three points (2-1—3) in five games against Grand Rapids during the Western Conference Quarterfinals.

McIntyre was selected in the fifth round (138th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by Dallas. In 221 career AHL games with Lowell, Albany and Houston, he has tallied 101 points (46-55—101) and 177 PIM. The Pefferlaw, Ontario, native made his NHL debut with Minnesota in 2011-12, notching a goal and an assist in seven games.

Prior to turning professional, McIntyre spent four seasons (2006-10) at Colgate University. While a member of the Raiders, he recorded 131 points (56-75—131) in 151 games and was a two-time member of the ECAC All-Academic Team (2008 and 2009). He was also named to the ECAC First All-Star Team in 2009 and to the Second All-Star Team in 2010.
