GRIFFINS ANNOUNCE SKYTIX

Apr 01, 2014

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins on Tuesday announced the forthcoming debut of Griffins SkyTix©, an innovative, drone-based ticket delivery system.

Revolutionizing ticket distribution in professional sports, Griffins SkyTix© will allow customers to receive season ticket packages and group tickets within 30 minutes of their order through the use of unmanned aerial quadcopters. While receiving tickets through email continues to be popular among single-game buyers, a recent survey concluded that Griffins group leaders and season ticket holders would prefer to receive their printed tickets in a more timely manner.

Upon placing an order, tickets will be printed and packaged at the Griffins’ office and attached to a quadcopter. Within a 70-mile radius of Van Andel Arena, the quadcopter will use a GPS system to locate a customer’s front door and release the ticket package before returning to the arena.

The Griffins are in the final phase of test flights this week and currently plan to launch their fleet of eight Griffins SkyTix© quadcopters later this spring.
